Drive-In Movie Date

I just attended my first movie in person since August 2020.  We are moviegoers. In person. On the big screen.  So, we drove to the Port Hope Drive-In to see Nobody

The Port Hope Drive-In sprouted from a farmer’s field in 1947. The locals know to line up on the shoulder of Theater Road an hour ahead of time to get a good spot.  I suspect that the regulars are folks that work in the area servicing the rich retirees and telecommuters from Toronto. Folks that want value for their entertainment dollar. Two hot dogs, one popcorn, two waters and a Kit Kat for $20 is good value.

Let’s give some credit to the Drive-In. No frills but well run and a field full of polite Canadians. With their kids and puppies. Not as spruced up as the Mustang Drive-In in Picton and no showmanship (but not as pricey either.) All hot foods delivered to your car.  They forgot the mustard and relish on my hot dog but that’s okay. Good screen.

My date got fresh with me.

And the movie Nobody was….appropriate for a classic drive-in experience. Cartoony. Violent. Cartoony violence. Devoid of all meaning. But if you like choreographed fight sequences (which I do) perfectly acceptable.

The second film was Jaws. Too late for us to stay for but we hear good things. They say the director will go places.
